Old North State Classic | 2024

Bridge II Sports is excited to once again host the Old North State Classic Junior NWBA wheelchair basketball tournament!  Wheelchair basketball teams, in both the Varsity and Prep divisions, from around the Southeast, or further abroad, are invited to participate in this annual winter celebration of our young athletes as they compete for the gold.

Online Registration opens at 12:00 a.m. on August 26th and will remain open until 11:55 p.m. on November 15th, 2024.  There will be no onsite registration or walk-ons allowed.

I would like to announce that the Rocky Mount Event Center will be the new home of Old North State Classic.  Why?

I have been organizing and putting on events for nearly 20 years.  The best events and best outcomes over time come from having consistency; and while I love it when games are in local universities; it is difficult to find the consistency necessary for long-term sustainability in a university setting.  At NC State the students are always their first priority, and we are always their second.

And while NC State's students should be their top priority; it makes putting on a successful event harder, and it has a negative impact on our ability to put on the best event possible for our priority, the athletes.

We will be LIVESTREAMING again! David Anderson and his team are coming back for their fourth year of supporting Old North State Classic athlete's and their families by allowing friends and family to cheer their favorite adapted athlete from afar.  We will make sure to send out a link to all teams so that they can share with family and friends.  We also have several retired NBA players lined up to call the livestream action.

Jillian’s Jitterbug has stepped up again this year to sponsor lunch on Saturday for players and coaches!  Family and friends in attendance will have the option to purchase food from the Rocky Mount Event Center's concession stand.

Rumor has it that there may also be an Athlete Social hosted on Saturday night after the games...  Stay tuned.  Either way, we look forward to seeing you all again in NC!

RULES FORMAT:

Old North State Classic will follow the most current NWBA Junior Division Playing Rules.  Rules for the 2024-25 season can be found below:

AWARDS:

Competition awards will go to the 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place teams in both Varisty and Prep Divisions.  Additional awards will be available for MVP (male & female), All-Tournament Team, and Hustle / Sportsmanship in both Varsity and Prep Divisions.

REGISTRATION PACKAGE:

Each registration includes entry into the tournament for up to 20 players in either the Prep or Varsity Division, as well as lunch on Saturday for players and coaches.

Bridge II Sports is currently (i.e. 08.19.2024) working with hotels in the Rocky Mount area to reserve room blocks for this event.  Reservations must be received by November 22^nd, 2024; any reservations placed after this date will be at the hotel's regular rate.

We have one block of reservations at the Holiday Inn.  The rooms have a King size bed and a sofa sleeper, the rooms are $129 a night (excluding tax), and the reservations include access to a breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday morning.  To reserve a block room please click on the link below:
