Rocky Mount 3x3 | 2025

Description

Veterans and other athletes with physical disability will tear up the court at the Rocky Mount Event Center for the fifth year as Bridge II Sports proudly returns with its Rocky Mount 3 x 3 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament.  This street ball style tournament promises a full day of action packed gameplay as teams compete for the right to be crowned champion.

LOCATION:

Rocky Mount Event Center

EVENT CHECK-IN:

Friday August 1st 3:00pm @ Rocky Mount Event Center

EVENT ADDRESS:

285 NE Main St Rocky Mount, NC 27801

HOTEL ADDRESS:

Holiday Inn 200 Enterprise Dr Rocky Mount, NC 27804

Online Registration is now open, and will remain open until 11:55 p.m. on July 21st, 2025.  There will be no onsite registration available.

While the event is geared towards veterans, the Rocky Mount 3x3 is open to any athletes with a physical disability high-school age or older.  In 2023, the Rocky Mount 3x3 Tournament hosted the first ever National Women's 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball event, and we hope to see a similarly strong showing from our female athletes this year as well.  We know though, no matter what, that the display of talent, dedication, and perserverance shown by ALL of the athletes is sure to impress.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS:

FORMAT:  The Rocky Mount 3x3 will start with a Round Robin bracket; with each team playing every other team once.  Points will be awarded to each team for each match win.  The four teams with the highest point totals will proceed to the semi-finals, and the event will conclude with a Gold Medal match to determine the tournament champions, and a Bronze Medal match to determine the third place finisher.

If there is a sufficient number of registrants there will be both a men's and women's division; otherwise players will compete on mixed teams.

TEAMS:  All players will register as individuals, and ALL individuals will be required to play in a sports chair.  A selection committee will create teams using a balance of height, disability class, and skill level.  The most skilled players will be divided up first, and then the remaining athletes will be assigned to those teams as evenly as possible.

Athletes are encouraged to bring their own sports chair.  However, Bridge II Sports will provide chairs for athletes who do not have,     or cannot bring, their own equipment. Please fill out the registration form completely so we can get the best fit for you!

MEDALS:  Medals will be awarded to the members of the top three teams of this year's tournament.

REGISTRATION:  Included in the registration fee is a jersey, a swag bag, and a catered meal at the Awards Ceremony.

TOURNAMENT RULES

  • No double dribbling, but you can pass to yourself.
  • Traveling is called if a player pushes more than two times w/o dribbling.
  • A player must remain in contact with their seat at all times.
  • The player, or any part of the wheelchair (besides the wheels), cannot contact the floor while the player has possession of the ball.
  • If a player falls out of their wheelchair, play continues unless the fall endangers the fallen player or others.
    • If the player with the ball comes too close to the fallen player; play stops until the player can right themselves.
  • Teams agree on "shooter for outs" to begin play, and shoot from agreed upon spot.
  • Round Robin games will run 20 minutes; if there is a tie the game goes into sudden death, next point wins.
  • Semi-finals and Finals games will be played to 21 points (winner must win by 2 pts)
  • All baskets count as one [1] point, and 3-pointers are worth two [2] points.
  • Possession alternates after each basket.
  • ALL players MUST clear the ball to the 3-point line after EACH possession (e.g. point, dead ball, or foul).
  • You do not have to clear the ball after an "air ball" or a steal.
  • ALL players MUST clear the paint after each possession.
  • Players call their own fouls.
    • After a foul call is made possession continues after the ball is cleared to the 3-point line.
    • Minor & incidental calls should not be made; play should continue.
    • In the Semi-finals & Finals; after five team fouls each subsequent foul will result in the opposing team's player, who was fouled, shooting a free throw for one [1] point.
  • If a dispute cannot be resolved; both teams must agree on a single shooter to determine the result (i.e. a basket "wins" the dispute, a miss "loses").
  • In the rare case that a team has four players; the team must work out a pattern of play that allows equitable court time for all players.
  • If a player is incapacitated at any point, and is unable to continue play; the Tournament Director will:
    • Remove a sub from another team and use them as a replacement.
    • If no sub is available, a replacement will be pulled from another team on a game by game basis as the schedule allows.
  • The winning team MUST report scores to the scorer's table IMMEDIATELY after a match.
  • RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.  Athletes will be notified of rule changes.
